PROBLEM     1 in 6 Americans get sick from foodborne illnesses every year, which is 48 million people. To draw global attention to the health consequences of contaminated food and water, the United Nations has declared June 7th to be the World Food Safety Day, but people still struggle with food safety every day.
SOLUTION    To remind people that worrying about food safety does not stop after they buy their groceries at the store, Trader Joe's will be implementing common safety items like helmets, face masks, and floaties throughout their new food packaging on World Food Safety Day. We also created advertisements as well as hand-painted signs about food safety to fit Trader Joe's style.
Digital Billboard & Streaming Media
In order to grab the public's attention, we created a digital billboard and commercial to announce that Trader Joe's will be celebrating World Food Safety Day on June 7th.
Promotion
We created a discount sign in an effort for Trader Joe's to raise awareness on World Food Safety Day about food safety. The store will be offering 67% off all food products on June 7th (6/7).
Products & Signs
The top five foods that are most likely to cause food poisoning are poultry, leafy greens, fish, rice, and meats.
We implemented common safety items to these products' packaging to spread awareness to Trader Joe's customers about which items they should take extra precaution with when handling to avoid foodborne illnesses.
We designed these safety items with their recognizable flower pattern to fit in with the aesthetic of the company and store.
